In detail
The full story
Two bottles of almond oil sit on the shelf. One is water-clear, cheap, and smells of nothing at all. The other is pale gold and smells faintly of marzipan. This is the second kind. Cold pressed almond oil — badam rogan — pressed slowly from sweet almond kernels in a wooden ghaani and bottled unrefined, which is exactly why families reach for it for baby massage and why it should never go near a hot kadhai.
Is this the right oil for baby massage?
For most of the year, yes — badam oil is the malish oil Indian homes have used for generations. It is light, it spreads without dragging on new skin, and it sinks in instead of sitting on top. Warm four or five drops between your palms first; that single step is most of the technique. Winter is where it earns its keep, when heavier oils feel greasy and lighter ones feel like nothing. Season matters here, so read our guide to choosing a baby massage oil, or the head-to-head, almond oil versus coconut oil for malish. Patch-test any new oil, and ask your paediatrician first.
What does it actually smell and taste like?
Soft, sweet and nutty — the smell of a freshly cracked badam, not of perfume. The colour is pale gold, not colourless, and it stays cloudy at the base because nothing was filtered out. Refining strips that colour, that aroma and much of the vitamin E and phytosterols the kernel carried, buying heat tolerance and a lower price in return. That whole trade is laid out step by step in wood pressed oil versus refined oil.
Can I cook with it?
Raw, yes. Hot, no. This is a finishing oil, not a frying oil: a teaspoon over a salad, stirred through porridge or a smoothie, drizzled on a dessert, whisked into a dressing. You will see 216°C quoted for almond oil everywhere — that figure belongs to refined almond oil, not to this one, so we print no number at all. Keep the flame out of it and use it where you can taste it.
Where does it sit in the Ayurvedic tradition?
In the Ayurvedic tradition badam oil is one of the oils described for abhyanga — the unhurried self-massage done before a bath — and it is the classic winter malish oil for the whole family, from newborns to grandparents. It is also worked into the scalp and along the hairline the night before a wash. We share that as tradition, not as medical advice.
How do I store it, and how long does it keep?
In the refrigerator, below 15°C, capped tight. It keeps four to six months from the pressing date on the bottle — deliberately short, because there is no preservative in it and we fill to order rather than warehouse stock. Fine sediment at the base is settled kernel and is perfectly normal; swirl the bottle before use.
Truly Cold Pressed at low RPM so the kernel never heats, rested and cleared by gravity alone, at our press house in Changodar outside Ahmedabad — FSSAI licence 10724999001232, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, GMP, HACCP and Halal certified, USFDA-registered, every batch numbered and lab-tested with the report published. One small bottle that does the baby’s malish, the Sunday champi and the salad dressing. Pick your size and we will press yours fresh.

Good to know
You asked, we answered
Is your Almond Oil edible, or only for skin and hair?
Ours is Truly Cold Pressed and food-grade, so it's beautiful for both! A raw drizzle over salads, smoothies or cooked dishes gives you its full delicate nuttiness, and it's equally lovely as a skin and hair oil. Do keep it away from high heat — this one is a finisher, not a frying oil — and refrigerating it once opened keeps it at its very freshest.
Can I use almond oil for a baby's malish?
Almond oil has been the traditional choice for baby malish across North India for generations, and ours is Truly Cold Pressed and food grade, with nothing added to it. Warm a little between your palms first — never on a direct flame — and use gentle, unhurried strokes. As with anything new on a baby's skin, do a small patch test on the inner arm first, and check with your paediatrician if your little one has sensitive skin.
Sweet almond or bitter almond — which one is this?
Ours is sweet almond oil, pressed from edible badam — the same almonds you would eat. Bitter almond oil is a completely different thing and is never sold for food or everyday skin use. So yes, ours is safe to eat, to use as a finishing oil, and to apply.
How do I use almond oil on hair without it feeling greasy?
Less than you think — five to ten drops warmed between your palms is enough for most hair lengths. Work it into the scalp and along the mid-lengths rather than piling it on the roots, leave it for thirty minutes to an hour, then wash as usual. Overnight application works beautifully too, though a single wash may not lift it fully if you have been generous.
Why is almond oil so much dearer than your cooking oils?
Almonds are an expensive raw material to begin with, and they give up very little oil — it takes several kilos of good badam to fill one bottle. We also press them slowly and cold rather than heating them for a better yield, which costs us more again. It is why almond oil is bought by the small bottle and used by the drop.
How much almond oil should I take in a day if I am using it raw?
Most of our customers use a teaspoon or so a day — drizzled over a salad, stirred into a smoothie, or taken plain in the morning. It is a rich oil with a delicate flavour, so a little carries a long way and there is nothing to be gained from more. Keep it away from the flame entirely; heat undoes exactly what the cold pressing preserved.
Why are your oils more expensive than other cold-pressed brands?
We could match anyone's price tomorrow — we would simply have to give something up: the wooden press, the hand-picked seeds, the steel-tank storage, the published lab tests, or the premium-only couriers. You're not paying more for the same thing. You're paying for everything a lower price would have had to remove.
How do I know your oil isn't adulterated?
Three ways. First, every batch is third-party lab tested and the reports are published for anyone to read. Second, we're FSSAI-licensed (10724999001232) and certified under ISO 9001, ISO 22000, GMP, HACCP and Halal, with USFDA registration for exports. Third — the simplest test — smell it. Truly cold pressed oil has an aroma refined oil simply can't fake.
There's sediment at the bottom of my bottle. Is something wrong?
That's a good sign, not a fault — we're always pleased when customers notice it. Our oils are completely unfiltered, so fine particles of the seed settle naturally over time. Refined oils look perfectly clear precisely because that goodness has been stripped out. Give the bottle a gentle swirl before use.
What is the shelf life of your oils?
Four to six months from the pressing date printed on every bottle. That's deliberately short: we use no preservatives of any kind, so we press in small batches and ship fresh rather than warehousing stock for a year. Store this oil in the refrigerator, below 15°C.
Do you offer free shipping and Cash on Delivery?
Shipping is free on all orders above ₹999 within India; below that, the exact cost is shown transparently at checkout. Cash on Delivery is available across India up to ₹50,000 — cash only, with a small handling charge.
Do you ship internationally?
Enthusiastically — to over 125 countries, with express delivery in 8–14 days (customs can add a little time). You'll also find us on Amazon US, Amazon UAE, Amazon India, Noon and Walmart.
Why should I choose KachiGhaani.com over another cold-pressed oil brand?
Here is the whole case, in one place:
100% truly cold pressed, preserving all the natural nutrients.
Made from hand-picked seeds, ensuring the finest raw materials.
Stored in steel tanks, maintaining hygiene and freshness.
Adulteration-free, guaranteed authenticity — one seed, one oil, nothing else.
100% transparent extraction, so you know exactly what you are getting.
Delivered fresh, typically within a week in India.
Impacting farmers, supporting sustainable livelihoods.
And most importantly, made with love and care :)
We believe in brutal honesty. It is why we tell you plainly that our prices are higher instead of pretending otherwise, why we publish our lab reports instead of burying them, and why we would genuinely rather you compared us against someone cheaper than simply took our word for anything.
And that is why you can blindly choose KachiGhaani.com over other cold-pressed oil brands. We never disappoint. We always deliver what we promise. Either love your items, or we will make it right for you.
What certifications does KachiGhaani.com hold?
We're FSSAI licensed (10724999001232) and certified under ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, ISO 22000:2018 for food safety management, GMP and Halal — plus USFDA registration for our export operations. Few cold-pressed oil brands in India carry this full stack, and we maintain it with real pride.
How long does delivery take?
Your order is processed and dispatched within 1–2 business days. Within India, express delivery then takes 3–7 business days depending on your pincode. International orders typically arrive within 8–14 days, though customs clearance in your country can add to that. You'll receive a tracking link by email the moment your parcel leaves us.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — shipping is free on all orders above ₹999 within India. Below that, and for international orders, the exact shipping cost along with any applicable duties and taxes is calculated transparently at checkout, so there are no surprises later.
Do you offer Cash on Delivery?
Yes! Cash on Delivery is available for orders within India up to ₹50,000. COD is strictly cash-only in Indian Rupees — gift cards and store credit can't be used against it, and a small handling charge may apply. If you'd rather pay online, UPI, net banking, e-wallets and cards are all available through Razorpay.
Which oil should I use for oil pulling?
Sesame oil is the traditional answer — the Ayurvedic practices of gandusha and kavala are described with til taila, and of the sesame varieties the classical texts hold krishna tila, black sesame, highest. Our Truly Cold Pressed Black Sesame Oil is exactly that, unrefined and unfiltered. Coconut oil is a popular modern alternative and is gentler in the mouth if you find sesame too strong. In practice: about a teaspoon on an empty stomach, swished gently for five to fifteen minutes, then spat into a bin rather than the basin and rinsed away with warm water.
